I don't know if I mentioned it or not but an insulated bedside water pitcher is nice to have too. Not only for the patient but for the care giver. Don't fall for the pretty glass ones. They sweat, won't hold a chill and break if dropped. Also, the plain stainless steel cost more than the colored stainless steel ones. Why? Just because some people like the look of silver colored stainless steel. Then best place I found and where I got mine is Wal-Mart. I like the one with a handle for patient use. It gives something extra to hold on to. Also the insulated ones have a t

Natural Antivirals Submitted by Health Gazette on Thu, 2006-05-11 08:55. Alternative Medicine Regular readers know that I have no time for the nonsense relating to imagined bird-flu pandemics. However. I regarded the following item of sufficient novelty to be of some interest. You may judge its merits for yourself. Research suggests certain natural foods may be as effective against virus H5N1 as commercial antivirals. (PRWEB) May 10, 2006 -- A Biology teacher from Australia, named Stephen Jones, has done extensive research into the H5N1 virus and compiled a list of natural foods that

This might sound like an odd question, but with all the worries about eating fresh spinach that might be tainted with E. Coli, I figured it would be better to ask then not. Is it only in the processing of the spinach that there is a problem... or is there a concern about the commercially grown plant itself? I'm getting ready to start ordering next year's seeds and I am wondering if there is any cause for concern in the seeds grown from this years crop. Forgive me if this is too dim for words, I think I'm having a Buffy moment.

I had to go to sleep early last night and slept 7 hours and woke at 3am. It's 6:30am now and the temps are 13F and it's snowing. Been sitting here studying very simple square foot gardening. ( Making plans for spring and I think the soil mix suggested is generally good for container gardens). I found a good garden center and will call them later for query on if they deliver this far away, within 50 miles, for topsoil quote. The sewer line digging sure goofed up the dirt situation. It's very good dirt here though, very fine. For springtime estimate for leveling things out. M's DH isn't

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE THIS WEEK TO PREPARE? PART 44
Mt_Rider replied to Cat's topic in Are You Really Ready?
Yeah, cool thots about rain and snow, Sass. I added a quote to my question about Avian Flu. WE2 mentioned it in her post directly above my query. MtRider ....Avian flu???? Having ducks, I keep tabs on that one. -
....you mean like, sauerkraut? Salt it and mash it and let it ferment....and yet it keeps well. Don't know the answer to your query but I'd like to know too. I'm also trying to find the LEAST possible way to preserve ....or make [soap]...etc. Cuz what if you only have basics like salt/vinegar.... MtRider ...Wow, I'm really impressed that your garden did so well in AZ heat!!!

I use the GNIS -- http://geonames.usgs.gov/ -- to find out county names. Click on "U.S. and territories" in the section marked "Query GNIS" and you'll get a form. Fill out the name of the town and select the state. Usually if you want a city, you should select "populated place" in the feature list. GNIS is an outstanding resource that everyone should bookmark and learn to take full advantage of its capabilities. Be sure to click on "GNIS Query Help Page" below the search form to learn all about it. As you can see by clicking through the "Feature Type" list, it covers about every geograp

It sounds like the concerns about the creek maybe from chemicals, Toxic ones & is there research or nuclear facilities upstream or on watershed areas leading down in elevation to the creek? Farms have pesticides as well. This is what sets off my red flags waving when I hear multiplication of limbs and eyes!!! Maybe this needs some study and. Find another watersource. As well. If it is only general pesticides it might be passable after boiling. We do that every summer here. If on water from lake Champlain. But how much are they really telling us. Pesticides are. Terribly man

Yes, you sound sexist. Guys are on this site because you can't expect a woman to understand anything mechanical, so there are a few guys to explain it in little words. . . . . ooh, do I sound sexist? (rolls eyes). You can be sure there are forums I avoid. Touchy-Feely I am not. And there are conversations such as like the last get-together where I hear key words like "Menopa . . ." and immediately my hands go to my ears and I say "lalalallalalalalala" while rocking back and forth. Tell you why I'm here - 'cause I met the owner through a mutual friend over some gun stuff and was inv

I've thought through most things, but I'm not sure how you'd do laundry without a washing machine? Has anyone else got an idea? If this is in the wrong spot, I apologize. I wasn't sure where to put my query.

I'll second this query! I can wear shoes for years and years. Coats...for decades. Even my sunglasses survive for years. But socks? I can get a hole within 4 months. Sooner if it's a thin pair. I have 2 dozen sox right now with the heels completely gone. I'm still wearing them. Afterall, my heels don't get cold. I have tried better quality socks and the same thing happens....and I'm out more money. I'm actually hoping to learn to knit my own socks. It's one of the goals that could happen if day-to-day life would quit running me over. The longest I've had any

Found this and thought it was interesting. "Are you researching family in Scotland, but stuck in Guam? One of the benefits of Internet genealogy is the ability to communicate with fellow researchers around the world; newsgroups and mailing lists are the tools that allow you to quickly and easily correspond with interested researchers. You may be asking, "Why not just use e-mail?" If you have a question, query, or a hot new genealogy source tip, you'll probably want to reach as many people as possible -- something that is difficult with e-mail. Newsgroups and mailing lists serve as a res

Cat lets try and take this about a week at a time. Remember, we can do as much as we can do. While we can.... so folks just keep your eyes peeled and talk, like Cat did, with your kids and family members about what you may be doing as time goes on. I don't know about it really helping the school budgets but I hope it does. The problem is if schools stay closed a very long time, alot of working parents will have to have someone staying home with the kids, and that is an economic loss to them if they cannot work from home, and most probably cannot do that. If travel shuts down, this affects

Free Drugs Many seniors may qualify for reduced or even free prescription medication. Yes, it's true, there are ways you may be able to get your prescription medications for free. But there are some catches. There are guidelines to be met and procedures to be followed. There are three major types of programs. The first are those run by your local government. This is often the best place to start looking for assistance. Next are federally run programs which are usually designed to help Medicare recipients. Finally there are the various indigent and patient assistance programs r

Shown below, is an actual letter that was sent to a bank by an 86 year old woman. The bank manager thought it amusing enough to have it published in the New York Times. Dear Sir: I am writing to thank you for bouncing my check with which I endeavored to pay my plumber last month. By my calculations, three nanoseconds must have elapsed between his presenting the check and the arrival in my account of the funds needed to honor it. I refer, of course, to the automatic monthly deposit of my entire pension, an arrangement which, I admit, has been in place for only eight years. You ar
